FunOfficePools is run by two people — Jim and Kevin — and it started the way most office pools do: with a spreadsheet that got out of hand.
In 2006 we were running a small Amazing Race pool where we worked, tracking every pick and every standing by hand. Kevin suggested we build a website to handle the picks, standings and results instead. We built it for our own pool, and it worked.
The players liked it enough that we added more reality pools — American Idol, Survivor. In late 2007 we decided to add football, and FunOfficePools.com was born.
We’ve tried a lot of pool types over the years, but the emphasis has always been on the person running the pool. That’s not a marketing position — we are both pool commissioners ourselves, so we build the features we want to have.
The goal is to make a pool as easy to run as possible, and as entertaining and straightforward to play as we can make it. If something is annoying for a commissioner, it’s annoying for us too, and it tends to get fixed.
We’ve been doing this for 20 years now, and we’ve recently rewritten the site from the ground up. With AI helping, features that used to take weeks now take minutes or hours — which means ideas actually make it into the product instead of sitting on a list.
The goal hasn’t changed: be the best site for commissioners to run their pools on. We have a lot of loyal users who have handed us great ideas over the years. We enjoy the back-and-forth with the players, and especially with the commissioners, and we expect to keep doing this for a long time.
And rivals can be friends: Kevin is a UGA grad, Jim is a Georgia Tech grad. The site has survived every Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate so far.
We hope you enjoy the site. Use the Feedback tab to send us comments and suggestions — we read all of them.
