Office NFL Football Survivor Pool Rules

How to Play NFL Football Survivor Pools

  • Basic Concept: Each week you pick a team to win. If it wins (straight up, no spreads), you survive. If it doesn’t win (including a tie), you’re out of the pool. Last person remaining is the winner!
  • Choose your Game Type:
    • Pick Winners — Players pick a team to win each week.
    • Pick Losers — Players pick a team to lose each week.
  • Choose Number of Strikes (1 or 2):
    • Normally one strike and you’re out. Can be increased so players must miss twice before elimination.
  • Choose Number of Byes (0, 1, or 2):
    • Byes let a player skip a week without getting a strike. If a player has a bye available and doesn’t make any picks, the bye is automatically used for that week.
  • Choose Number of Games to Pick Each Week (1 or 2):
    • Default is one game a week. When set to 2, each game missed counts as a strike.
  • Choose Number of Times a Team May Be Picked (1, 2, or unlimited):
    • Limits players from repeatedly picking the same dominant team.
  • Choose Number of Times a Team May Be Picked Against (1, 2, or unlimited):
    • Limits players from repeatedly picking the same bad team to lose.
  • Choose Whether a Tie Counts as a Strike:
    • By default a tie counts as a strike (since the team didn’t win). The commissioner can change this so a tie doesn’t count against the player.
  • Choose the Deadline for your pool:
    • Default — Picks due before kickoff of each game, or noon Saturday (NCAA/Combo) or 1:00 PM Sunday (NFL), whichever is earlier.
    • First Game — All picks due before kickoff of the first game.
    • Game Start — Picks due before kickoff of each individual game.
